Q:[[ Hey, don't spam Nickelodeon about reviving Invader Zim, please. It's not Nick's choice to make new episodes for it, that falls on Jhonen Vasques. The show technically belongs to him because he's the head writer and creator. He's moved onto greener pastures. I highly doubt we'll get a reboot because a lot of pre-teens "demand" it. It was a great show, yes. But, move on like the writer has and enjoy what you got. ]]
Well you have it backwards. He’s made it clear on QuestionSleep.com that it’s up to Nickelodeon as they own the rights. Now I’m glad you mentioned the greener pastures thing though because we’re very aware that he has exciting projects coming up including a Squee! animated short, a potential animated JtHM movie, a potential cartoon on Disney XD, and more. We were convinced for a short time that the projects meant all windows of opportunity have closed and I told Richard and Rikki “we’re more than willing to let Jhonen do his thing” (there’s footage of that out there. Connecticon 2014. Will grab it later).
Their response was “No, don’t do that. He hurts himself that way” and I laughed and thought nothing of it.
Then Eric Trueheart said some interesting things.
Then Richard announced his plans for Zim shorts.
So we’re going to still be celebrating the fandom, encouraging projects both licensed and fanmade, and greasing any wheels that get (Jhonen approved) Zim stuff.
As for the ‘spamming’ comment: yes, our humble beginnings was spammy and although it was effective (i.e., attention from Nickelodeon and Invadercon) we will be the first to say it was not a professional way of handling things. The phoneline flooding was four years ago and all of our endeavors have been within appropriate and helpful boundaries. Even our letter writing mission was made possible thanks to Katelyn Balach of Nickelodeon HQ.
Regardless I do want to thank you for being polite in your feedback. You’re a breath of fresh air.
Q:Is project massive over? Could I send a letter or is it too late? (even if it is project massive is done I'm not giving up on the show)
The fan mailing event was two years ago and this has become a wait and see what happens thing. I really need to update that Project Massive tumblr. -Johnny
Q:Will you be at invader con 3?
OHP will have some representation there. We think it would be fun to have a panel there and then some other mission take place or commence during the con.
Q:The thought of "Mr. X" being to busy to work on Zim makes me worried if the show will ever come back in any form. Is the fanbase losing interest? Has Project Massive failed?
Project Massive isn’t a failure in the event that say Nickelodeon says no due to reasons beyond the fan base’s control.
Project Massive also isn’t a failure in the possible event that Jhonen changes his mind about doing more Zim.
Project Massive is a failure if we, OHP leaders, failed to effectively reach out and get as many letters as possible.
We set out to prove to Nickelodeon that Zim has enough fans (i.e., a “built in market”) to justify the hugely risky full budget revival of Zim.
SO if Jhonen really is too busy or not in the mood then Nickelodeon won’t forget all the letters we sent AND in the meantime the fandoms have to continue stimulating the fanbase. Support Invadercon, Soapy Waffles, Art of Play studio, Zim Wiki, fanfic/fanart outlets, and more. Show that this fandom is alive and thriving.
as for the truth about Jhonen- we’re waiting on an on the record statement. We don’t consider his prank tweets (“drumstick I haven’t had in ten years”; “Zim is dead. go use your anger in voting for the presidential election”; “Curse of the Monkey’s Paw”) any sort of on-record statement on whether he wants the show to come back. and neither should any of you. Until he gives a serious statement akin to his “Don’t Cry For Zim” blogpost in 2010 we’re assuming he’s still interested in someday doing more Zim even if Zim takes a backseat to a animated movie of JtHM.
Q:Hey, it's been like almost a year since PM started. Couldn't you at least give us a little bit of an update? Or perhaps even at LEAST admit the project failed/succeeded?
We give updates when we can as this isa long drawn out process and we’re left in the dark on some matters.
Due to your politeness I suppose we will divulge SPECULATION (big emphasis on speculation)
There is *concern* that Jhonen might soon be too busy even if we have persuaded Nickelodeon.
IF that is the case then the fandom must continue to add to Zim’s success in various ways. Websites, fanprojects, etc.
I for one would be happy to see Invadercon’s Kickstarter succeed for that reason but am not saying Zim depends on it to come back nor would it be doomed if the kickstarter failed.
maybe someday we’ll get an on-record statement from the appropriate people.
We wouldn’t consider this a failure as we continue to await further information. Also Project Massive set out to persuade Nick based on a statement from Jhonen three years ago. His schedule (or a change of mind) is his prerogative.
OHP will continue as a news resource and also provide/establish ways for fans to have a say in the matter.
If you have questions then feel free to ask. I’ll be posting a full fledge update on Facebook sometime after the Kickstarter dies down.
Down with the dorky-looking male-dominated system of cartoon space-show production!
Meanwhile, at Frederator Studios in Burbank: storyboard breakdown for Bravest Warriors, episode BW205.
Q:I learned about Project Massive only this month, so I wanted to know: Is it still running?
No. thank you though!
PROJECT MASSIVE TOOK PLACE A YEAR AGO. STOP MAILING KATELYN BALACH
thank you. that is all. carry on
Q:it was canceled for blodly ?
Q:I just saw your Facebook page, and I have to ask, will there be an Invadercon 3?
They stated that if Zim comes back or if they reach 10 thousand followers on the Facebook or Twitter pages for Wasabi Anime then they will start planning. However we have reason to believe they have incentive to start talking about Invadercon 3 anyhow.
